ABOUT

This portfolio has been in my mind for awhile now. Since my mentioning of a graphics portfolio, I've been vocally chased by one of my best friends to make it since I made this layout, which was awhile ago. Another best friend, the owner of endless-hope.net, periodically reminded me to do it since the very first moment I told her about making a portfolio, which would be a couple years ago now. Since the first version, I've always gave up in the middle because I saw many great portfolios that mine couldn't compete with. For some reason, I came through this time. The layout was done about a couple of months ago, and then, I put it off for yet another couple of months, and last night, finally when I had some "free" time to it, I buckled down and started the coding of the layout. That is how this site came to be.

  CURRENT LAYOUT

Version 0: serenity
In truth, this version should be called version 3. The reason behind that will be explained later. This layout was made from a screenshot of the first episode of the OAV series called KARAS (I recommend everyone to see it!). It was the beauty and elegance of the picture that I got the inspiration for this layout. I started it one day around 2AM. And the one you're looking at right now is the 2nd version, because the first version was changed when I was re-editing the layout graphics. I also changed 'version 1' to 'version 0' because I wanted it to be a start from 0.

  HISTORY

Version 1: Project Pure Snow
The first time I attempted to make this portfolio was way back around four to five years ago. At the time it was called project pure snow. The name of the portfolio was based on the song Pure Snow from the anime series Himiko-den (Legend of Himiko). Back then, I didn't have the coding experience (I still don't have lots, but I can get by.) nor the proper graphics skills (I probably still don't.) to do something people will like, therefore, when I came upon a point when there was a problem with the graphics, I stopped and didn't think of it for a long while. This version never made it to the coding stage.
Version 2: Deep Forest
The second time I attempted to make this portfolio was about one to two years ago. By then, I've made some really impressive pieces and that I was more confident in my skills as a graphic designer. Before this, I tried making a layout that featured Sawai Miyuu. But that was soon given up on because it didn't look good at all. Deep Forest (version 2), is what you see here and it's the most simplest layout I've made by far. Composed of one image and everything else powered solely by Cascading Style Sheets. Deep Forest is based on Do As Infinity's song 'Deep Forest'. Unlike the previous attempt, this was simple enough to go to the coding stage, but I stopped after realizing that the layout was too simple and not good enough.

  THE PROJECTS

The projects are 11 consecutive banners-like pictures in roughly the same dimensions as each other. They were made three years ago and from scratch which truly tested my skills as a graphic artist. The subjects they depicted had nothing to do with each other, but they were a set because they were similar sized pieces that I felt should be grouped together. Moreover, they didn't look very good standing alone. Thus, the projects was born. Project 1 probably took the longest time. It underwent 6 versions before I asked a friend which one he liked and last but not least, the final version was decided on.

  SHIAWASETTE

Shiawasette was a mp3 rotation site I owned for more or less a year before I stopped updating. It went through 4 versions, 3 of which I made the layout for. Version 3 was made by Misaki. This was when I developed my skills as a layout designer.

  THE NO-NAME PORTFOLIO

To date, this portfolio has no name. That is because I could not find a suitable name for a portfolio that could be outstripped by any other portfolio. My boyfriend then (now ex-boyfriend) came up with the temporary name/subdomain golden-wings. At the moment, I'm still trying to think of a name.
